based flautist Kia Bennett has a background as a freelance orchestral player,
having performed with many of the UK’s leading professional orchestras, including
the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National
Orchestra, and the orchestra of the Welsh National Opera.
Kia’s training was initially at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with David Nicholson. She then gained a MMus from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She has recently enjoyed making a recording of chamber music by the the Greek composer Elena Pavlea with London Piano Trio. Another highlight was recording a set of new works by John Rutter called “Blessing.”
Kia is a dedicated teacher and has a thriving private studio, as well as teaching at local grammar school KEGS and independent schools New Hall and St Cedd’s. She has also run courses for adult learners of flute for Benslow Music Trust, and has previously been invited to teach lessons at the course Nordic Flutes in Sweden, by Royal College of Music professor, Gitte Marcusson and Wildacres' own Göran Marcusson.
