Wednesday, June 24th, will be Mock Orchestral Audition Day. Göran Marcusson will teach the orchestral excerpts in the morning masterclass session. Students who wish to participate in this class should prepare six excerpts from the following list or ones they have chosen outside the list below. Each person will get a ten to fifteen minute session on one of their excerpts and the morning class is open to being audited.
The actual mock auditions will be held after lunch, which will only be for the participants and no outside onlookers. These mock auditions will emulate a real audition as much as possible, being behind a screen and playing as a number. When not auditioning, the participant will be on the panel listening to the others in order to gain understanding of how the process really works. At the end of these sessions each participant will have a greater understanding of how to prepare for an audition. The participants will not be competing against each other, but to professional standards.
Suggested Mock Audition Pieces to Prepare:
W. Mozart: Flute Concerto in G or D, 1st mvt exposition
Principal Flute Solos:
